Draft Day is here! I couldn’t be more excited that the 2020 NFL Draft is finally here and we get to watch it tonight. It’s a day I look forward to every year more than any other day, including my birthday and Christmas.
For the first time ever, I have completed a full 7 Round Mock Draft. The most rounds I had ever done before this was 3 rounds, so this was a bit of an undertaking for me.
The first couple picks are chalk as usual, but things in the teens get a little interesting.
As always, I don’t do trades in my mock drafts and my sections are based on my personal Big Board and how I would draft, not who I think is going to be drafted. However, I did include rumors I’ve heard regarding team’s interest in the pick synopsis, where applicable.
Enjoy the read and Happy Draft Day!
Round One:
1) Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
No surprise here, all we’ve heard for months is how the Bengals are locked into Joe Burrow. There are no rumors that this pick can be anyone else.
2) Washington Redskins
Chase Young, EDGE, Ohio State
Young is the pick as long as the Redskins don’t trade out. There have been rumors that the Redskins are looking into trading back, but ultimately I don’t think it will happen. Young is a true defensive playmaker.
3) Detroit Lions
Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
This pick is the most rumored to be on the move. I firmly believe the Lions to trade back, most likely with the Dolphins. As long as Okudah is on the board when the Lions actually make their pick, Okudah is the guy.
4) New York Giants
Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama
This Giants pick has had many prospects attached to it. I love Wills in this spot to protect their young QB in Daniel Jones. We’ve also heard rumors about Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons and very recently Oregon QB Justin Herbert. I’m not buying the Herbert smoke, but Simmons wouldn’t surprise me.
5) Miami Dolphins
Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
It’s Tua vs Herbert in Miami. The Dolphins have leaked that they love Herbert more than Tua. But is that a leak on purpose in order to drive the price down on a trade with the Lions? That’s the theory I’m working with and I think they will trade up to 3 and take Tagovailoa.
6) Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
I’m not sold that the Chargers love Herbert, but I love this match. Tyrod Taylor is not the answer so they need a QB. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chargers are hoping Tua drops and if he doesn’t they’ll sign Cam Newton after the draft. That would open this pick up to an OT or Simmons.
7) Carolina Panthers
Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson
Simmons is such a dynamic and versatile defensive piece that I can’t see how the Panthers can pass on him. There have been rumors around Auburn DL Derrick Brown here, but I lean towards Simmons.
8) Arizona Cardinals
Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
Arizona has also been linked to Brown, but protecting Kyler Murray should be their number one priority. He has all the weapons he could ask for with the addition of D’Andre Hopkins, but his offensive line is still poor. Wirfs can immediately jump into RT opposite D.J. Humphries.
9) Jacksonville Jaguars
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
There are many ways the Jaguars can go with this pick, but ultimately they need to trade down and recoup more draft picks. I’ve heard the Jags are being labeled the “Trevor Lawrence team” for the 2021 Draft, so they might be looking to blow everything up. With a trade here, they can look at prospects like South Carolina DL Javon Kinlaw, Florida CB C.J. Henderson, LB Patrick Queen, etc. But without trades, the Jags can go with the best player left in the draft. Their offense will be rebuilt with Jeudy, Gardner Minshew, and D.J. Chark.
10) Cleveland Browns
Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville
Maybe Becton isn’t the top OT for the Browns here, but regardless, they need to draft an OT. This roster is so good on paper, but without the proper protection for Baker Mayfield, I’m not sure how far they can go.
11) New York Jets
Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
Same logic as Browns, but entirely different roster. The Jets have many needs and therefore I wouldn’t be opposed to them trading down. I’ve heard rumors about a WR here, but a franchise LT will help Sam Darnold much more this season and beyond.
12) Las Vegas Raiders
CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
The only way this pick isn’t CeeDee Lamb, is if someone like Simmons falls or the Raiders like Jeudy or Ruggs here (assuming Jeudy falls). Lamb is the perfect fit for this offense and the perfect weapon for Derek Carr.
13) San Francisco 49ers (via IND)
Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
The 49ers have picks 13 and 31, and then they don’t pick again until 156 overall. So a trade down is necessary with at least one of their first round picks, but Ruggs is the perfect fit for Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
14) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Austin Jackson, OT, USC
This is certainly a reach for Jackson, but OT should be the only consideration for the Bucs in the first round. Their offensive line is underrated, but they still need an upgrade at OT. The best scenario for the Bucs is a trade down into the 20s and then select Jackson.
15) Denver Broncos
Derrick Brown, DL, Auburn
There have been many rumors this week about the Broncos looking to trade up to 9 or 10 overall to draft a WR. I believe these rumors and I think the Broncos will be able to get it done and select their top WR. However without trades, if Derrick Brown falls to them and they can pair him with Von Miller and Bradley Chubb, AFC West QBs should be worried.
16) Atlanta Falcons
C.J. Henderson, CB, Florida
The Falcons have also been rumored to trade up and I think they are focused on a CB. They would most likely need to trade up from 16 to land Henderson, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to package something huge together and take advantage of Detroit trading down and steal Jeff Okudah.
17) Dallas Cowboys
K’Lavon Chaisson, EDGE, LSU
I honestly have no idea where the Cowboys are going to go with this pick. It could be EDGE, DL, CB, S, OT even WR. Chaisson is the highest ranked prospect left on my board and with Robert Quinn leaving in free agency, I wouldn’t hesitate to take Chaisson here. He has one of the highest upsides out of every prospect in this class.
18) Miami Dolphins (via PIT)
Josh Jones, OT, Houston
The Dolphins traded away their franchise LT Laremy Tunsil last offseason and they desperately need to inject talent back into their offensive line. Jones sounds like a lock to go in the first round, so the Dolphins need to grab him here instead of waiting until 26.
19) Las Vegas Raiders (via CHI)
Javon Kinlaw, DL, South Carolina
The Raiders have quite a few needs but Kinlaw is the top remaining player on my board. I’ve heard rumors that the Raiders are very interested in CBs, so much so that they may take one at 12 and wait for a WR until this pick.
20) Jacksonville Jaguars (via LAR)
Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
The Jaguars have needs pretty much all over their roster. Yet again, the Jags should be looking to trade down to recoup more picks. However, after trading away Ramsey this last season, CB is a really big need.
21) Philadelphia Eagles
Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
I haven’t heard anything other than WR for the Eagles in the first round. They strongly addressed the CB position in free agency and they can look to draft another later in this draft. I like Clemson WR Tee Higgins more than Jefferson, but Jefferson fits alongside Alshon Jeffery better as more of a compliment than a carbon copy.
22) Minnesota Vikings (via BUF)
Jeff Gladney, CB, TCU
The Vikings CBs fell off a cliff in terms of talent in just the last year. They traded away Stefon Diggs a few weeks ago, but in this WR heavy draft class, they can wait a few more picks to get one. Gladney is my fourth ranked CB in this draft class but he is nearly guaranteed to be a first rounder.
23) New England Patriots
Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
I’m standing on an ever-shrinking island of people who believe that not only the Lats should take a QB in the first round, but I believe they will. This might need to be a trade up in order to land Love, but with the highest ceiling in their draft class paired with the greatest coach of all-time, sounds like another 20 year bond (kidding (kind of)).
24) New Orleans Saints
Patrick Queen, LB, LSU
I don’t know where the Saints are leaning, but Patrick Queen would be perfect for them. They have very few needs, but another linebacker next to Demario Davis is at the top. Queen would also add much-needed speed to this defense.
25) Minnesota Vikings
Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson
The Vikings get their WR here with Tee Higgins. I’ve found myself as the biggest fan of Higgins that I’ve seen. Higgins would be a great compliment to Adam Thielen, as he can create space and stretch the field.
26) Miami Dolphins (via HOU)
Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
The Dolphins truly can go anywhere with this third first-round pick after getting their QB and OT. I would be just as pleased with Michigan IOL Cesar Ruiz or Iowa EDGE A.J. Epenesa. But McKinney fills the hole that Minkah Fitzpatrick left when he was traded to the Steelers early in 2019.
27) Seattle Seahawks
Isaiah Wilson, OT, Georgia
Seattle’s MO is to trade down out of the first round, so I wouldn’t be surprised by that. But if they stay here, or wherever they end up selecting, they need to address their offensive line. It’s plagued them for years and I have to imagine Russell Wilson is getting tired of running around.
28) Baltimore Ravens
Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
This is one of my favorite fits in this draft and something I’ve been mocking for months. The Ravens have a big hole in the middle of their defense after losing C.J. Mosley in free agency last offseason. Murray also adds a lot of speed to this defense.
29) Tennessee Titans
A.J. Epenesa, EDGE, Iowa
The Titans would have a ferocious defensive line if Epenesa ends up in Tennessee. Harold Landry, Jeffrey Simmons, and Epenesa would haunt opposing offensive lines and QBs for years to come.
30) Green Bay Packers
Michael Pittman Jr., WR, USC
The Packers first and foremost need to address the WR position and I can’t imagine the thought process of a WR isn’t the pick, barring a big slide from a top player or all WRs of value are gone. It doesn’t sound like Pittman will be selected until mid second round at the earliest, but he’s my early favorite for a surprise breakout player in this draft.
31) San Francisco 49ers
A.J. Terrell, CB, Clemson
Once again, I believe the 49ers will trade out of this pick. Maybe it’s for a QB that’s slid like Love, or a team who wants a fifth year on a player like D’Andre Swift. Regardless, the 49ers need to start looking at depth in their secondary. Terrell fits the mold in San Francisco as a CB who’s size and traits are similar to Richard Sherman.
32) Kansas City Chiefs
Cesar Ruiz, IOL, Michigan
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Chiefs go with a Cb or RB in this spot, or even trade out. But their biggest need is IOL and Ruiz is the best of the bunch by a wide margin. It’s not very unlikely there will be a starting-ready IOL at pick 63 when the Chiefs pick next.
Round Two:

Zach Baun, LB, Wisconsin

Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State
